Yorkshire Garden Designs began in 2006. It is a a small but flourishing business run by Lorna Batchelor, a multiple Harrogate Flower Show Gold Award winning garden designer. Lorna offers a personal design and consultancy service and has many great links with local nurseries, landscapers and specialist craftspeople. Hard landscaping is carried out by independent companies who are either recommended by Lorna or may be a company of the client's choosing. Planting schemes are implemented by Lorna, either as the finishing touch to a full garden project or as a stand alone service.

Designs are based upon the atmosphere of each individual place and the needs of the people who use the garden. The aim is for the garden not to look 'designed' as such, but more like it's just meant to be that way - exactly what the client wanted but never actually thought of. Clients are consulted throughout the design process and each garden is truly one of a kind. All plans and 3D visuals are lovingly hand drawn in Lorna's own unique style.

The majority of Lorna's design and planting projects are for small to medium domestic gardens around the Harrogate, York and Wetherby area of Yorkshire. Lorna has also taken on a number of small commercial projects and is usually willing to tackle something out of the ordinary. During Covid lockdown 2020 Lorna developed a successful remote garden design service, where consultation and design could be carried out without a site visit, and therefore available out of area. This service works best for straightforward sites, particularly blank canvas newbuild gardens and relies upon the client being able to provide accurate dimensions and information. This service is subject to availability - during busy periods it may not be available as local jobs are always prioritised.
