Small Sloping Garden
WHAT:
WHERE: Knaresborough
September 2019
WHEN:
The clients had just extended their newbuild townhouse and what had already been a small garden with a garage in it, was now a tiny L shape. Not only that, it sloped quite steeply away from the house.

Despite these limitations, it was still possible to create a usable and attractive outdoor space. A generously sized patio was created between the bifold doors and garage wall, paved with Kandla grey sandstone. A brick circle was cut into the area for added interest and the same brick edging radiated from the circle to creating a step with a planting bed, down to a small artificial lawn.

Modern horizontal slat fencing was installed on the boundary and Fargesia 'Black Dragon', a small, non-invasive bamboo variety was planted for some privacy around the patio.

Landscaping was implemented by the client's builder as part of the house extension project.
