Garden Design & Landscaping
Concept to Completion:
The design process starts with a free, no obligation initial consultation. This is when the client and designer walk around the garden and discuss ideas and requirements. A quote for design work can be given on the day.
On agreement of the quote it is time to proceed with a site survey. This is a scale drawing of the existing features, including those to be removed.
Next is a design consultation. 50% of the design fee is due at this stage. Clients meet with the designer again to view sketches based on the site survey and a mood board of photo examples to illustrate ideas. Sometimes several options are given. Clients may make any changes they wish at this stage and a further consultation can be arranged if necessary.
When a design is agreed plans are hand drawn, in a clear and easy to read format with each dimension to scale. 3D drawings are included when required. Clients get a set of drawings to keep and copies will be provided to the contractor. The remainder of the design fee is now due.
We have several trusted landscape companies who we recommend to carry out the landscaping work. We operate as separate businesses and clients deal with the landscaper directly.
Clients may take the drawing to other landscaping companies to get accurate, like for like quotes and use another contractor of their choice if they wish, or even carry out the work themselves. Yorkshire Garden Designs will liaise with landscapers to ensure the work goes to plan. There is usually no extra fee for this.
More complex projects involving multiple tradesmen and suppliers may warrant more formal project management. Arrangements can be made with Yorkshire Garden Designs on a case by case basis.
Plant supply and planting services are provided by Yorkshire Garden Designs. This is usually the finishing touch when the hard landscaping is complete, bringing the garden to life.
